Jim Plant
Named President and CEO of NewTek
(by digitalmediafx.com) Jim Plant has been promoted to president
and CEO of NewTek, the company that created the LightWave 3D animation
and FX software. Plant replaces Tim Jenison, founder of NewTek,
who had served as an "interim" president and CEO for
several years. The move will allow Jenison to put his focus back
on research and development where he became well-known for starting
the desktop video revolution with the introduction of the Video
Toaster a decade ago.
"Over
the many years Jim has been in the 3D and video industries, he
has developed a superior knowledge of NewTek's business and the
markets we address," said Jenison. "In addition, I believe
Jim truly understands our users and has a true dedication to meeting
their needs. He has also developed a very exciting vision for
NewTek's future, which I strongly support."
In his position
as President of NewTek, Plant will be responsible for the day-to-day
management of the company's operations. As CEO, he will lead NewTek's
executive staff in their ongoing efforts to oversee the development
applications for animators, artists, digital producers, and videographers.
