DIC and
PBS Team Up for Animated Series
(by digitalmediafx.com) Kids watching PBS will be given a
history lesson next year when DIC Entertainment and PBS launch
a new animated series about two teenagers that work in the print
shop of Benjamin Franklin. From here, the show gives the audience
an inside glimpse at American history. Titled "Liberty Kids,"
the animated series will debut in May 2002 in time for Memorial
Day and features the voice of Walter Cronkite for Benjamin Franklin.
"This
series was inspired by a desire we shared to introduce kids in
America, and around the world, to the principles and ideals that
were at the core of the American Revolution -- democracy and freedom
of expression," said Andy Heyward, chairman and CEO of DIC
Entertainment. Such important values as these are described as
part of entertaining and colorful stories, all the while inspiring
young Americans to understand a little more how fortunate we are
to be living in such an open democracy. 'Liberty's Kids' deals
with real issues in a manner that a young audience can understand."
Educational
material will be provided to schools that coincides with the animated
series.
