Shrek
Opens in LA and New York!
(by digitalmediafx.com) Shrek is now officially playing
at two select theaters in Los Angeles and New York. The animated
film from DreamWorks/PDI can be seen at AMC Century 14 in Los
Angeles and the Loews Lincoln Square in New York. On Friday, Shrek
will expand to over 3,000 theaters throughout the U.S. in a quest
to become the highest-grossing non-Disney animated film of all
time.

MTV Begins
Production on Two New Animated Series
(by digitalmediafx.com) MTV Animation has started production on
two new animated series slated to air on MTV. The first series,
Clone High, follows four high school students who were cloned
from the DNA of historical figures. The second series, Time Boys,
follows the adventure of two boys in their 20s, one who is building
a time machine. MTV has not yet announced when the new animated
series will begin airing.

E3 Takes
Place This Week
(by digitalmediafx.com) The biggest video game tradeshow in the
U.S., the Electronic Gaming Expo (referred to as E3), opens this
week in Los Angeles. Closed to the public, the event is only for
qualified trade personnel and press. Video game companies use
this annual event to showcase their newest and best software games,
hardware consoles, and add-ons.
Microsoft's
Xbox is expected to dominate this year's show by showing off its
new Xbox gaming console and a massive list of partnerships who
will have games ready in time for the Xbox launch.

According to The Chicago Tribune:
"Regardless
of your feelings about the movie, you have to admit that watching
a mad scientist and an even more mad gorilla disappear, in stages,
right before your eyes in last year's creepy Hollow Man
was pretty amazing.
Although a
number of different metamorphoses unfold during the course of
Shrek -- DreamWorks' wonderfully imaginative entry in the
summer animation derby -- nothing quite so revealing takes place.
On the surface, at least..."
