Monsters,
Inc. Enters Top 10 Animated Movies List
(by digitalmediafx.com) Monsters, Inc. became the fastest
movie ever to enter the Top
10 Animated Films of all Time list, dethroning 101
Dalmations (not taking into account inflation) and passing
Beauty and the Beast on Sunday to settle in at #9 where
it will continue to climb. Monsters, Inc. will likely end up settling
at the #3 spot, just below Toy Story 2, when its box office
run is complete.
Monsters,
Inc. also holds the record for the Top
10 Animated Openings of all Time list with Toy Story
2 at #2 and Shrek at #3.

Nintendo's
GameCube Hits Store Shelves
(by digitalmediafx.com) Just three days after the launch of
Microsoft's Xbox, Nintendo launched its new gaming console yesterday
- the GameCube. While the GameCube opened to less fanfare than
the Xbox (in part because of Microsoft's massive $500 marketing
budget), sales were still strong on Sunday. Like with the Xbox,
many stores have sold out of all console units with more shipping
on a regular basis through Christmas.
Nintendo's
biggest problem is the lack of games it currently has available
for GameCube. Only nine games were available on Sunday as follows:
All-Star Baseball
2002
Batman: Vengeance
Luigi's Mansion
Madden NFL 2002
NHL Hitz 20-02
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Super Monkey Ball
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Nintendo's
advantage is that the GameCube sells at $100 less than both the
Xbox and Playstation 2, in part because the system focuses exclusively
on gaming and not other elements like doubling as a DVD player.
