Monsters,
Inc. Given "G" Rating by MPAA
(by digitalmediafx.com) Pixar's Monsters, Inc. has been
given a "G" rating by the Motion Picture Association
of America. The "G" rating goes against the norm of
animated movies this year, which have mostly been "PG"
and "PG-13". With the exception of Shrek, all
the other movies underperformed with Final Fantasy being
named by USA Today as one of the biggest losers of the summer
at the box office. Osmosis Jones was also a major loser
as it struggles to reach $15 million.
Earlier this
year, Disney (which is distributing Monsters, Inc.) moved
the release date for Monsters, Inc. up to November 2 in
order to avoid going head to head with Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone.
Pixar is encouraged
by early screenings of Monsters, Inc. which has received
higher scores than the mega-successful Toy Story 2 when
it test screened.
The only "G"
rated movie released over the summer was Disney's live action
The Princess Diaries which will cross the $100 million
mark this weekend to become one of the most successful films of
the summer, beating out other high profile movies like A.I.
